Simone rose to prominence on the 2011 series of X Factor in the US before joining G.R.L , a group formed by Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin.
They scored a hit featuring on Pitbull’s Wild Wild Love, which peaked at number six on the chart.
A statement was released by G.R.L’s record label on Saturday morning confirming the star’s tragic death.
It read: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the loss of Simone Battle of G.R.L.
“Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time.”
