Mya Harrison in a baby doll dress:
Since the 1960s the baby doll dress has become popular and seems to find its way back into fashion decade after decade.
In the 1940s lingerie designer Sylvia Pedlar of
Iris Lingerie (who personally deplored the term) cut her nightwear short as a
response to wartime fabric shortages, that babydoll truly entered public
vernacular.
The babydoll dress is (loosely defined as a garment with an empire waist and a skirt ending above the knee) and one somehow always rooted in gender politics.
It was a kind of lingerie, in 1958 by Cristóbal Balenciaga who transformed
the style into couture with his exquisitely constructed, lace-tiered pieces
known as the “Baby Doll Dresses.”
Foregoing the empire cut for a
trapeze line drop waist, they pre-empted the 60s trend for mod applications of
the style with their loose fit but structured form, and transformed the dress from
nightwear into a new, avant-garde silhouette that became one of Balenciaga’s
most renowned styles.
How to wear
This type of dress is that it can make you look incredibly cute However, if you have thicker thighs, opt for a longer version.
Wear it a few inches above the knee for petite frame, you can wear it a bit shorter, but not too short. Bear in mind that baby doll dresses are flowy, and they will “show off” on a windy day.
Wear the baby-doll dress with leggings. This works well for those who may feel too old to wear this dress. Select long leggings that cover most of your legs.
Pair a dressy baby-doll dress with high heels for a night out on the town. The baby-doll dress, combined with the heels, will give you a sweet yet stylish look.
Mya Harrison’s look is absolutely gorgeous and fab in that dress.
