A Singaporean Male Who Is Also Gay Wins The Right To Adopt A Surrogate Child

The 46 year old carried out the process with his long term partner.

He spent $2000,000 which is one hundred and fifty nine thousand pounds on the case as he battled it out in court. He tried last year to adopt the child but the bid was rejected leaving him with no parental rights.

Same sex marriage and gay sex is illegal in singapore,the law is that singles or couples can adopt a child but gay men cannot legally get married so he would have to file as an individual.

Last week the singaporean court ruled in his favour and gave him the go ahead to adopt.

His lawyer Ivan Cheong said his client was overjoyed and happy. Gay marriage in asia is still illegal but the gay movement has gained significant momentum across some parts of asia.
