His name is on lips around the world, as it typically is every four years: Bolt is among the biggest stars in sports, thanks to both his unmatched sprinting gifts, again on display here in Rio, and his vibrant personality.

His name is on lips around the world, as it typically is every four years: Bolt is among the biggest stars in sports, thanks to both his unmatched sprinting gifts, again on display here in Rio, and his vibrant personality.

Bolt just 29.13 seconds to capture his three gold medals in the 100 meters: he won in 9.69 seconds at the 2008 Beijing Games, an Olympic-record 9.63 four years later in London, and 9.81 seconds on Sunday night at Olympic Stadium.

So it took less than 30 seconds for Bolt to be a legend.
What can you do in 30 seconds? Send a text. Respond to an email — a short one. Sit through a commercial. Post something witty on Twitter. You can even spend the half-minute attempting to pronounce the longest word in the English language: pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanokoniosis.

Or you could try to run the 100; you’ll probably finish in time, though without a gold medal — let alone three.

If you want to dig a little deeper, Bolt has spent an additional 56.3 seconds compiling the remaining four medals of his Olympic career: 19.30 to win the 200 at the 2008 Beijing Games, 19.32 in the same event in London and a combined 17.68 seconds during his legs as part of Jamaica’s gold-winning 4×100-meter relay team during the past two Olympic Games.

After Rio, Usain Bolt is said to be finished with Olympic competition., He ended his run of three Games with another gold medal—his ninth—anchoring the Jamaican team to victory in the 4×100-metre relay.

No man has ever done what Bolt accomplished in Beijing, London, and Rio: the triple triple—three consecutive gold medals in the 100-metre, 200-metre, and 4×100-metre. There is a good chance no one will ever do it again.
