Police seeking family of child left at school, find 3 dead

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Police officers looking for the family of a child who wasn’t picked up from school found three people dead in a Salt Lake City home.

Detective Dennis McGowan says police found the bodies Friday afternoon while looking for the family of an 8-year-old boy who wasn’t picked up from elementary school.

McGowan says the back door of the child’s home was wide open when officers arrived.

KUTV-TV reported that Salt Lake City police have identified two victims as 50-year-old Heike Poike and 2-month-old Lyrik Poike. A male victim has not been identified.

Police say the deaths are suspicious.

McGowan says all three people were related to the boy but did not say how.

He says the boy is fine and staying with a family member.
