How To Grow Sunflowers

  1. Sunflowers are easy to grow from seed sown directly in the garden.
  2. It should be no surprise that sunflowers love sun.
  3. Plant sunflower seeds in spring after the danger of frost has passed.
  4. Keep the soil moist until the seeds germinate, typically in a week.
  5.  A sunny position is favored – the annual flowers will always grow towards the sun. Annuals are happy to grow in pots of multi-purpose compost, whereas perennials prefer a border setting, planted in the ground. Avoid very small pots as plants will suffer if they are left to dry out.
