Sunbury M3 crash and fire driver dies

The cars crashed on the London-bound carriageway of the M3 north of the M25

A woman died after the car she was driving crashed and caught fire on the M3 in Surrey.

She was heading northbound between junctions one and two near Sunbury at about 23:15 BST on Friday when her car was in a crash with a Vauxhall Zafira.

The woman died later at St George’s hospital in south west London. The driver and passenger in the Vauxhall suffered minor injuries.

The motorway was closed in both directions overnight.

Both carriageways have since reopened.

Any witnesses to the crash are asked to contact Surrey Police.
