Lorde Drops New ‘Hunger Games’ Song ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’: Listen

MIX 105.1

Lorde began teasing her latest contribution to the Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack last night (Sept. 29), in advance of the track’s release to radio this morning.

The song is called “Yellow Flicker Beat” and it is Lorde’s first single as curator of the final two soundtracks in the wildly popular film franchise.

The song has all the makings of Lorde’s past hit singles like “Royals” and “Team.” “I’m a princess cut from marbles / Smoother than a storm,” she sings over nothing other than her own backing vocals at first before the song slowly adds more instrumentation, eventually becoming a bombastic chorus with a mountain of synths.

Giving fans an advance peek at the track, Lorde posted a series of lyrics on Sunday evening via photos to her Facebook and Instagram accounts.
